THE SAARC CHAMBER CRAFTS VILLAGE (SCCV)

The SAARC chamber crafts village (SCCV) is a not for profit company registered with the Government of Nepal. It comprises a group of enterprising women who have one common vision to help other women grow and improve their business by creating better market opportunities through sharing of technology, trade information and building linkages for collaborative projects. The SCCV aims to work towards developing a culture of social entrepreneurship.

The SAARC Chamber Crafts Village is focused on exchange of trade information, entrepreneurial skills and building trade links among the Women Entrepreneurs of the South Region. The SCCV serves as the information and marketing resource body by facilitation of trade activities through intra exchange of products and services among rural, semi, urban and urban women producer groups, entrepreneurs, manufacturers, professionals and service providers in the South Asia Region.

A retail outlet has been establishment to show-case the skills of the Women Entrepreneurs from the SAARC Region.

Each country's products is displayed through this outlet. The SAARC Chamber Crafts Village has built up a strong support network with Government & non-government organizations, and aims to work together for entrepreneurship development.

SCCV Vision
To establish the first women's industrial Estate with the support of the government of Nepal.

Reinforcing the visibility of women by empowering them towards financial independence and enhancing their social status in the rural and urban areas.

SCCV Products
Some of the products exhibited at the Retail outlet are: Handicrafts, Textiles, Jute Products, Souvenir Items, Jewellery, Pashmina, Handmade (Known as Lokta) Paper Products, Natural Fiber Products, Nettle Products, Hand painted decorative items from Eastern Nepal, Felt Woolen Fabric Products, Traditional woven (known as Dhaka weave)
cotton textiles, herbal products etc.
The project was conceptualized at the official launching of SAARC Chamber Women Entrepreneurs Council (SCWEC), in Colombo, Sri Lanka in the year 2001.
SAARC CHAMBER WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS COUNCIL (SCWEC)
SAARC Chamber Women Entrepreneurs Council (SCWEC), a sub sector of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry Comprises a membership of key Women Entrepreneurs organizations from the South Asian Countries. The project being the first of its kind at the regional level has been recognized by all Women Entrepreneurs under the SCWEC umbrella. The main focus of the project is to strengthen and create a sustainable network of the women Entrepreneurs in South Asia.
